Name: Prof. dr. Dante Saksono Harubuwono Sp.PD-KEMD, Ph.D

Position:Deputy Minister of Health Republic of Indonesia

• Dr. Dante completed his medical doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Indonesia in 1997. In 2004, he completed his medical specialty in Endocrinology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, and in 2008 he earned a PhD at the University of Yamanashi, Japan.
• He is a well-known health expert in diabetic molecular and lecturer at the University of Indonesia. He was appointed as the Chief of Metabolic Disorder, Cardiovascular and Aging Cluster at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Indonesia in 2017. He has led the Diabetic Cluster at a National Hospital, Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusumo since 2018. At the national level, Dr. Dante coordinates the research and development program of the Indonesia Endocrinologist Association (PB PERKENI) in 2018 – 2021. Given his vast experience in chronic diseases, Dr. Dante was asked to join the Presidential Medical Team in 2014.
• Dr. Dante earned several International awards and recognitions from International Diabetes Federation Asia Pacific, Tajima Awards, and Takeda Science Foundation Awards. He has given more than 100 lectures at national conferences and workshops. Dr. Dante has published more than 55 papers in various indexed journals, including Q1.
• When COVID-19 hit Indonesia in early 2020, Dr. Dante made significant contributions. He led the clinical trial of the antivirus Favipiravir and oversaw the management of 50 state-owned enterprise hospitals. His experience in healthcare management positioned him as the commissioner of Indonesia Healthcare Corporation. In late 2020, the President appointed him as the Vice Minister of Health.
• Dr. Dante’s primary mission in the Ministry of Health is to manage the COVID-19 pandemic and to transform the health system, particularly in primary care. He believes that improving people’s quality of life and wellbeing should start with having strong primary care in the community. Right now, he is also an alternate board member of the Global Fund.
